Noah’s Ark Adventure for HKCEE Students

19 July 2010

Noah’s Ark at Ma Wan Park cares about young people and recently hosted two days of adventure activities for students sitting the last HKCEEs, to help them relieve stress while they await their exam results.

Teams competed in events like land rowing, orienteering and a high rope course testing strength, endurance and teamwork. One event had students racing up an eight-metre rope ladder. The events encouraged students to offer each other support when facing challenges.

Hong Kong Polytechnic University graduate Lau Hiu-fung was a special guest at the event. He was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at a young age and has such a limited range of movement he can barely move his fingers. His determination and perseverance helped him overcome his disability and achieve outstanding academic results, earning him the nickname ‘Hong Kong’s Stephen Hawking’. He spoke to the other students about his experience and encouraged them to be strong and positive when faced with adversity.

Noah’s Ark Project Manager Angus Cheung said: “We understand that students are worried about the uncertainties ahead and we hope to inspire them through the adventure games. The HKCEEs were like a race, and students should take them as a great learning experience regardless of the results. Focus on the future and dream big!”
