SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation sponsors elite mainland students at Zhejiang University
Zhang Junsheng leads university delegation to visit and thank The Foundation

The SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation (The Foundation) is committed to promoting the long-term development of education and training on the mainland. The Foundation started a scholarship programme at Zhejiang University since 2006. It is a seven-year programme which targets to help top mainland students with financial need to complete four-year undergraduate courses at the University. Chairman of the University's Development Committee and the former Deputy Director of the Hong Kong branch of Xinhua News Agency Zhang Junsheng led a university delegation to visit and extend grateful thanks to the Foundation for its contributions.

The SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation.Zhejiang University scholarships benefit nearly 60 new students every year. The students are committed to their studies and many have graduated with high scores and proceeded to do further studies at the university or other institutions.

Mr Zhang and Zhejiang University Vice President Si Jianmin led the delegation to Hong Kong and met Foundation Executive Director Amy Kwok and Director Kwong Chun. They expressed their gratitude for the Foundation’s generosity, support and contributions to the development of Zhejiang University and the country’s education and training. Messrs Zhang and Si advised Ms Kwok that University President Yang Wei had made her an honorary member of the university board.

Ms Kwok said, "I was pleased with the appointment. Ever since the establishment of The Foundation many years ago, we have been committed to helping the country's educational development because we know that talented people were the most important asset for the nation. The scholarship programme at Zhejiang University was one example of our commitment, which helped the undergraduate students to complete their studies. I was happy that the students were doing very well at school and hope that they would contribute to the country's prosperity after graduation. The Foundation should continue to support the nation's education and talent development."

Zhejiang University was founded 113 years ago and is one of the oldest universities on the mainland. Over a century of development, it is now leading in teaching and scientific research, and ranks third in the nation for integrated studies. It is also one of the world's influential universities in the field of integrated research.

The Foundation has provided funds to the Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Tongji University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Zhongshan University, Northwest University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and municipal education authorities like those in Zhongshan. The initiatives also included supporting elite students to do doctoral or master degree courses in overseas institutions. The total number of beneficiaries has topped 5,000 and the sponsorship was over RMB 300 million. The Foundation is also committed to promoting the long-term development of culture and heritage protection on the mainland and training preservation professionals.
